Todd talks with journalist Elinor Burkett about the year she spent in a suburban Minneapolis high school. During her year at Prior Lake High School she studied the high school experience from the perspective of students, teachers, administrators and parents. She tells Todd about the mixed messages students receive from their teachers and administrators, the way students manipulate the system to their benefit, and how some parents interfere with the learning process. Her book is "Another Planet: A Year in the Life of a Suburban High School."

Tim Matheney is the Assistant Principal at Prior Lake High School, where Elinor Burkett spent a year. Todd talks with Tim about his reaction to the book, and the reaction of students, teachers and the Prior Lake community. Reaction to the book has been mostly positive, but Tim thinks that critics need to bear in mind that public schools operate in the face of many pressures and obstacles.

Todd talks with Lee Whittlesey, a National Park Service archivist, about recently discovered waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park. He and two other Yellowstone explorers have discovered more than 230 previously unmapped waterfalls, they have written about their work in "The Guide to Yellowstone Waterfalls and Their Discovery."
