Manufacturers are always trying to create the next "new" product. Robert McMath runs the "New Product Works" in Ann Arbor, where he has a collection of products including foods and personal hygiene items. He's been collection items since the 1960's. Todd visits "New Product Works" to talk with McMath about new products of the past and present. McMath's book is "What Were They Thinking?"

The way in which a text communicates goes beyond merely the definition of the words, says literature professor George Bornstein. He talks with Todd about how works can lose their intended meaning when they are translated and put into anthologies. His book is "Material Modernism: The Politics of the Page". Bornstein is a professor at the University of Michigan.
