H.W. Brands, professor of History at Texas A&M University, talks with Todd about the influence and accomplishments of Benjamin Franklin. He discusses how Franklin affected the political environment in 1774. He tells Todd about the relationship between Great Britain and the colonies, and Franklin's initial support of the British government. He talks about what happened to make Franklin change his mind and work for secession. Brands' book is "The First American: The Life And Times Of Benjamin Franklin".

Todd is joined by the show's travel advisor Joe Brancatelli. He talks with Todd about how war with Iraq has affected the travel industry. They discuss how air travel has decreased since the war and how the airlines are coping with the drop in passengers. They discuss flight cancellations getting bumped, rescheduling and security measures in place.
